The No. 5 Tigers swept the two-game series against the Gators, 6-5, 7-5, this past weekend to advance to the quarterfinal round of the state Class 4A playoffs against No. 4 Tioga.

Breaux Bridge – After missing out on the playoffs last year for the first time since head coach Kyle Cormier took over the program in 2001, the Breaux Bridge Tigers were hungry for playoff success when the 2016 season got underway earlier this year.
Lady Bulldog correction
The story in this week’s Teche News reporting Cecilia High School’s victory over Grant in the first round of the Class 4A softball playoffs was incorrect.
The District 5-4A champion Lady Bulldogs actually suffered a 17-2 loss to the Lady Cougars and were eliminated from the playoffs, ending their season with a 15-12 record.
