Breaux Bridge off to a hot start in district

Breaux Bridge got off to a hot start in the District 5-4A basketball race, knocking of parish rival St. Martinville on Jan. 19 and Abbeville on Friday. In another league game on Monday night it was Breaux Bridge 58, Westgate 54.
The string of league victories boosted The Bridge’s season record to 16-7 overall and 3-0 in district.

Cecilia crushes The ’Ville, 44-0

St. Martinville wasted a golden scoring opportunity in the first minute of last Friday’s District 5-4A showdown with Cecilia and never came close again as the Bulldogs rolled to a 44-0 victory in a dominating performance.

The St. Martinville Tigers overcame an anemic offensive effort to pull out a 17-10 homecoming victory over a winless Westgate team last Friday.

Calais boosts ’Dogs past Tigers

Cecilia ended a four-year drought last Friday by posting a 31-14 victory over parish rival Breaux Bridge in a key District 5-4A battle.
The Bulldogs’ last victory over the Tigers had occurred back in 2010 but Cecilia scored early and never trailed in rolling to its eight victory of the season and staying unbeaten in league play.
