After rough week, teams look to rebound Friday

All three parish teams suffered disappointing losses last week on a stormy Friday night. St. Martinville experienced its first defeat while Breaux Bridge and Cecilia both slipped to 1-2.
The three District 5-4A schools continue their pre-league schedules this Friday against foes of varying talent.

Crowley slips past Cecilia

Crowley – The Crowley Gents used two big first quarter plays to take and early 12-0 lead over Cecilia and held off a second half Bulldog rally on their way to an 18-13 victory here last Friday.
The Gents scored on a 46-yard run by Keith Wilson and a 37-yard Paul Dugar-to-Rapheus Joseph pass to build their first half lead.

The Bridge falls short in 28-21 loss to Rayne

Breaux Bridge – Breaux Bridge grabbed an early 7-0 lead over Rayne last Friday and finished strong but still fell to the undefeated Wolves 28-21 in a non-district contest that was delayed more than an hour due to a thunderstorm.

Eunice – Costly penalties and critical errors in the kicking game led to St. Martinville’s first loss of the season last Friday with the Eunice Bobcats coming from behind late in the game for a 20-16 victory.

The Bridge tops SM in volleyball

Breaux Bridge’s Lady Tigers claimed early season bragging rights in St. Martin Parish volleyball competition with a 3-1 match victory over St. Martinville last week.
Breaux Bridge had won an earlier match against Cecilia so now owns victories over its two parish rivals.
