Atchafalaya boat landing closed

The boat ramp in Henderson Lake near the I-10 Atchafalaya Welcome Center is closed until further notice due to the low water levels caused by the drawdown at Henderson Lake.
The lake is being drawn down as part of a plan to eradicate hydrilla.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development closed the ramp on Sept. 27.

BB impressive; Cecilia, SM struggle in jamboree

St. Martin Parish teams went 1-2 in the Lafayette Kiwanis Jamboree last week in Lafayette and Carencro.
Breaux Bridge claimed the parish’s only victory with an impressive 12-0 shutout of the Livonia Wildcats at Clark Field on Thursday.

Stand-up paddle boards, being demonstrated here by Carson, Conrad and Peyton Pellerin of Breaux Bridge, are very popular on False River. All types of paddle craft are welcome in the False River Open.

First False River Open will be Saturday, Sept. 6

The False River Open Paddle Challenge will be this Saturday, Sept. 6, at the public ramp next to Satterfield’s Landing.
Registration opens at 7 a.m.
The events:
•400 Meter Youth Paddle, $20, start 8 a.m.
•3 Mile Paddle, $30, start 9:15 a.
•10 Mile Challenge, $40, start 11 a.m.
