ACLU: St. Martinville can't ban obscenities in Mardi Gras parade

The American Civil Liberties Union says the St. Martinville Police Department cannot prohibit Mardi Gras floats from playing rap music with obscene lyrics, according to an article in The Daily Iberian.
The newspaper quotes ACLU of Louisiana executive director Marjorie Esman from a letter Esman reportedly wrote to SMPD.

Two SMSO narcs busted

Following a State Police investigation requested by the St. Martin Sheriff’s Office, two former SMSO narcotics agents were arrested last week on suspicion of committing perjury and falsifying arrest reports.
Brian Reyes, 30, of New Iberia, and John Brown, 42, of St. Martinville, already had been fired for undisclosed reasons.
