Murder suspect busted in Broussard

St. Martinville – State troopers arrested an Algiers man wanted for second degree murder in St. Martin Parish Friday, Jan. 30.
Shortly before 4 a.m. Friday, Louisiana State Police Troop I received information from the New Orleans Police Department that 62-year-old Abbie Head from Algiers was believed to be in the Broussard area and was armed and suicidal.
NOPD told troopers, Head is a suspect in a homicide that occurred in New Orleans and was wanted on suspicion of second degree murder.
Troopers along with St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies began to search the area and subsequently located Head at a hotel in the Broussard area.
Troopers took the suspect into custody without incident.
Head was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center pending transfer back to New Orleans.
