New borrow pit rules adopted

An ordinance passed at the Aug. 1 parish council meeting imposes greater control of borrow pits in the parish.

Boudreaux Farms in Catahoula started planting sugar cane July 30 on a 150-acre tract. Rusty Boudreaux says he farms a total of 720 acres, and his crew is currently working seven days a week from 5 a.m. til 8 p.m. Cane harvest is expected to begin in late September.(Sally Angelle)
