Effective immediately, the following road closures and high water notifications in St. Martin Parish are in place due to heavy rains and high tides. Auditor Charles “Chip” Maraist delivered his annual audit report to the St. Martin Parish council at the Aug. 15 meeting and said his research revealed that parish finances are very sound, especially in light of poor economic conditions currently prevalent in the area.
A resolution was introduced at the Aug. 15 St. Martin Parish Council meeting to rename the recently-completed Bayou Mercier Road bridge for well-known Atchafalaya writer and photographer Greg Guirard.
