A public forum featuring candidates for St. Martin Parish sheriff, sponsored by the Breaux Bridge Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, starting at 6 p.m. at Breaux Bridge City Hall.
Seating is limited and first-come, first-served.
Investigators with the St. Martin Sheriff's Office Wednesday, July 29, arrested James Alexander, 41, of Breaux Bridge and Jimmy Batiste, 57, of St. Martinville, for the theft of brass pipe fittings from the Louisiana Sugarcane Cooperative.
Earlier this month, investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office sought the public’s assistance in locating a suspect who was wanted in connection with several vending machine thefts in the Cecilia area of St. Martin Parish. At that time there were also similar thefts that occurred in Breaux Bridge, Youngsville and Broussard.
Kids from St. Martinville will set up a lemonade stand at 308 W. Port, near the Parish Government building, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. today (Thursday) to raise money for victims of the Lafayette theater shooting.
