Down 28-7 at intermission, the St. Martinville Tigers staged a furious second half rally, outscoring Teurlings Catholic 21-7 only to fall short in a 35-28 loss to the Rebels here last Friday.

Cecilia – Breaux Bridge finally got its offense untracked last week, rolling to a 54-26 victory over District 5-4A rival Cecilia that kept the parish championship trophy in The Bridge for another year.

After last Friday’s win over St. Martinville Breaux Bridge has only to defeat Cecilia this week to claim its third straight St. Martin Parish championship. But the Bulldogs were the last parish team to defeat The Bridge, taking a 38-21 victory in 2010, and the win-starved ’Dogs are hungry for revenge as to host the Tigers Friday.

Bulldogs come close in loss to Westgate

A missed field goal and a fourth quarter turnover ended up costing Cecilia as the Westgate Tigers escaped with a 28-18 District 5-4A victory here last Thursday. The Bulldogs trailed the Tigers by only 21-18 going into the final period.
