With the Nov. 15 kickoff of the “Paint the Bridge” initiative, funds are being sought to restore and repaint a landmark dear to the heart of Breaux Bridge citizens – the historic drawbridge situated on, aptly named, Bridge Street, in the downtown area.

Scores of volunteers began as early as Wednesday to prepare traditional Thanksgiving meals for those, in the Breaux Bridge community, who otherwise would have gone lacking. By early Thursday morning teams worked like clockwork to cook and package over 1,000 meals for the less fortunate in our area.

Breaux Bridge – A Lake Charles man wanted for the abduction and battery of a Breaux Bridge woman on Nov. 18, was arrested here Thursday, Nov. 21, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect is identified as Jeremiah Jones, 25, of Lake Charles.
Two members of the St. Martin Parish Council have attained positions of leadership in the National Association of Counties (NACo).
Councilman Craig Gregory, who represents District 7, has been appointed chairman of the Education and Families Subcommittee as a standing member on the Human Services and Education Steering Committee.
