The African-American Museum is hosting an African-American genealogy series during Black History month.
Twice a year, Sheriff Ronny Theriot of St. Martin Parish sponsors a lunch for the seniors of lower St. Martin Parish. This year the winter lunch was held in the Stephensville Elementary School gym on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Applications to the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program must be submitted to Maj. Ginny Higgins at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office no later than Wednesday, April 1.
Hand-built the old-fashioned way from old-growth sinker cypress, a classic Cajun pirogue is being auctioned over the internet to raise funds for the Atchafalaya Basinkeeper, watchdog for Louisiana’s great natural treasure.
The auction started Sunday, Jan. 25, and will run until 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1.
