The Southwest Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society is sponsoring a new cruise through the heart of Cajun country next week.
The “Cajun Classique” begins in Breaux Bridge on Monday, April 7 and ends in Franklin on Sunday, April 13, at the Wooden Boat Show at the Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival.
Last week was a rough one for St. Martin Parish high school baseball teams, with Breaux Bridge, Cecilia and St. Martinville playing a total of 10 games and managing only one win.
Cecilia’s Lady Bulldogs managed to stay in the thick of the District 5-4A softball race last week by slamming parish rival Breaux Bridge 19-1 and shutting out Northside’s Lady Vikings 17-0.
All three St. Martin Parish teams played in baseball tournaments this past weekend with mixed results.
St. Martinville recorded its first wins of the season by going 3-0 in the Grand Lake tournament, knocking off Welsh, Hamilton Christian and Lagrange.

From humble beginnings, the Bayou Teche Wooden Boat Show enters its fifth year having grown from a 12-boat original event to more than 50 classic wooden vessels in its fourth showing.
