Lady Bulldogs slam Breaux Bridge, Northside

Cecilia’s Lady Bulldogs managed to stay in the thick of the District 5-4A softball race last week by slamming parish rival Breaux Bridge 19-1 and shutting out Northside’s Lady Vikings 17-0.

The Lady ’Dogs also posted impressive wins over Catholic of New Iberia, Vermilion Catholic and Hanson Memorial at the Bayou Blast Tournament in New Iberia over the weekend.

The hot bats helped Cecilia improve to 14-6 overall and 4-2 in league play.

The winless Breaux Bridge Lady Tigers also dropped an 8-4 decision to Westgate in district play last week, leaving The Bridge at 0-10, 0-4.

St. Martinville (3-12, 1-3) also struggled last week, losing district games to Teurlings Catholic and St. Thomas More, and winning only one of three games played in a Sulphur tournament.

District 5-4A action continues full throttle in the coming weeks with the following games scheduled:

•Thursday, March 27 – Northside at St. Martinville; Breaux Bridge at Westgate; Cecilia at Teurlings Catholic.

•Saturday, March 29 – Notre Dame at Cecilia.

•Monday, March 31 – Patterson at St. Martinville; Teurlings Catholic at Breaux Bridge.

•Tuesday, April 1 – St. Thomas More at Cecilia.
