Couple engaged

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis James Herpin of Mire are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter Jennifer Nicole to Ian Christopher Walters of Carencro. He is the son of Leonard Wayne Walters and the late Rita Gayle Walter also of Carencro.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hargroder, Jr. of Crowley and Mrs. Ethel Herpin and the late Harrison Herpin of Gueydan.

Jennifer is a 2004 graduate of Notre Dame High School. She attends University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she is a member of PRSSA and Phi Kappa Phi honor society. She will graduate in May with a degree in public relations. Herpin has been recognized as the outstanding student for the department of communication.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Rita Lormand and the late Gussy Lormand of Lafayette, and the late Huey Walters and Patsy Guilbeau of Broussard.

Ian is a 2003 graduate of WestMinster Christian Academy and a 2006 graduate of Aveda Cosmetology Institute. He is currently employed with Color Bar Salon in Lafayette as the master stylist.

The couple will exchange vows at 7 p.m. on May 23 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire.
