There was a public meeting at Evangeline Oak last Wednesday, called by members of the “Cajun Navy.”
The following arrests and/or citations were reported in St. Martin Parish from Monday, August 29 through Sunday, September 4.
The St. Martin Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a Parks man after deputies recovered illegal drugs along with weapons and currency in his home last Friday, Sept. 2.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that La. 353 (Prairie Highway) from La. 31 to the Lafayette Parish line is now open to traffic.
The road was closed due to high water from the recent flood event.
Parish President Guy Cormier announced Monday that the contract for flood debris collection along St. Martin Parish roadways has been awarded to Tetra Tech Inc. of California. The projected $650,000 bill will be paid through a cost-sharing program.
