Natchitoches – Catahoula native Calvin Borel is among eight inductees chosen for induction into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame next June.
A three-time Kentucky Derby-winning jockey, Borel will be recognized during the 2017 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Celebration here June 22-24.
St. Martinville – After serving for 2½ years as St. Martinville’s top law enforcement officer, Police Chief Calder “Pop” Hebert is leaving the post.
Breaux Bridge – Bishop J. Douglas Deshotels of the Diocese of Lafayette has appointed the Rev. Garrett McIntyre pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church effective Oct. 10. He is expected to serve a six-year term at the church.
