Fr. McIntyre new St. Bernard pastor

Breaux Bridge – Bishop J. Douglas Deshotels of the Diocese of Lafayette has appointed the Rev. Garrett McIntyre pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church effective Oct. 10. He is expected to serve a six-year term at the church.
Fr. McIntyre, who is currently the pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Henderson, will succeed Fr. F. David Broussard, who was removed from the position in July following his arrest by the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit on charges of possessing child pornography on his personal computer.
That investigation is ongoing, according to State Police.
Bishop Deshotels also announced that the Rev. Garrett Savoie will be the new pastor at Our Lady of Mercy and that the Rev. Stephen Ugwu is appointed associate pastor at St. Bernard, replacing the Rev. Brian Webre, who had taken a temporary leave several weeks prior to Fr. Broussard’s arrest.
Fr. Savoie’s pastoral appointment is also for a six-year term.
