The following arrests and/or citations were reported in St. Martin Parish from Monday, August 8, through Sunday, August 14.
St. Martinville – At a sentencing hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 16th Judicial District Court Judge Curtis Sigur sentenced Darrin Duhon to 48 years in prison for the shooting of a former Breaux Bridge police chief, his wife and her mother in 2012.
What weather experts and many old-timers are calling the heaviest rainfall in recent memory has left portions of St. Martin Parish, as well as vast areas of south Louisiana, reeling from record flooding.
St. Martin Parish Schools
St. Martin Parish Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, August 17, due to continued flooding in low-lying areas. Students, bus operators, and bus attendants are excused from school or work.
All other employees are to report to work on Wednesday, August 17.
