School and attendance zone reconfigurations mandated under a consent decree handed down by a federal court judge appear to have moved racial ratios at a number of parish schools closer to levels acceptable by the plaintiffs in a desegregation suit and the U.S. Department of Justice.
Breaux Bridge – St. Martin Parish’s largest city, with a population more than 8,000, according to the 2010 census, is known for its unique Cajun culture and its quaint downtown area at Bridge and Main Streets where Highway 31 and the Bayou Teche both flow full of historically significant life.
Breaux Bridge – Following up on reports of drug activity, the search of a residence by St. Martin Sheriff’s Office personnel resulted in the arrest of Brandon Scrantz, 34, of Breaux Bridge.
During the search conducted on Dec. 8, deputies found drugs, currency and weapons at the residence in the 1700 block of Grand Anse Hwy.
