The Rev. Felix David Broussard entered a not guilty plea to 20 counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles during his arraignment in 16th Judicial District Court here Tuesday.
A trial date was set for Aug. 14.
The requirement for place and time of residency for police officers appointed to the Civil Service Board have been loosened to allow more flexibility.
St. Martinville –The May 1 council meeting was moved up from Tuesday to Monday so as not to interfere with another event. A proposal made last month would have eliminated the insurance as part of the compensation package and shifted the cost to the members.

Thelma Theresa Hebert Moody passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 1, 1926, in Rayne, Louisiana, to Nettie Laura Plattsmier and Valery Leonard Hebert, the youngest of their five children.
Early voting for the April 29 general election ends this Saturday in St. Martin Parish.
Only two races remain on the ballot for local voters. Residents throughout the parish will vote on the runoff between Candyce Perret and Susan Theall (both Republicans) for the Div. B seat on the state’s 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal.
