Early voting ends Saturday
Early voting for the April 29 general election ends this Saturday in St. Martin Parish.
Only two races remain on the ballot for local voters. Residents throughout the parish will vote on the runoff between Candyce Perret and Susan Theall (both Republicans) for the Div. B seat on the state’s 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal.
In a three-person race, Perret topped Theall 1,519 votes to 807 here in St. Martin in primary balloting.
Voters in St. Martinville’s City Council District 5 will be deciding a runoff between Arthur Champ Jr. and Edmond Joseph (both Democrats). In the three-way primary, Joseph led the field with 81 votes while Champ garnered 75.
An official in the Registar’s Office said 347 ballots had been cast as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Early voting places include the Registrar of Voters office in the Courthouse Annex on St. Martin Street in St. Martinville; the Sydnie Mae Durand Sr. Citizen Center on Cannery Road in Breaux Bridge; and the St. Martin Parish Water District #1 Building on Tower Tank Road in Stephensville.
Votes may be cast between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. through Saturday, April 22.
