Eric Courville of Breaux Bridge took first place in the Sleeper category during the 2015 Louisiana Motor Transport Association (LMTA) Truck Driving Championships held here March 27-29.
On April 2, officers with the Breaux Bridge Police Department arrested Tommy Junior Celestine, 22, of Breaux Bridge, on suspicion of attempted second degree murder.
BBPD detectives are investigating a stabbing that took place on March 19, during a large fight where Celestine allegedly stabbed at least one person multiple times.
Bayou Teche has been added to the National Water Trails System, a first for Louisiana. Designation as a National Water Trail by the U.S. Department of the Interior places the Teche in an elite group of rivers across the nation and will increase recreational tourism for the 15 communities and four parishes the 135-mile river runs through.
