Mergist and Perkins united in marriage

A Nuptial Mass uniting Kelly Mergist and Nicholas Perkins was held July 25, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Lafayette. Father Harold Trahan presided over the ceremony.

Kelly is the daughter of Lance Mergist of Erath and Vanessa Nunez of Abbeville. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Nunez and Mr. and Mrs. Benny Mergist. Kelly was escorted down the aisle by her father, Lance Mergist.

Nicholas is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Abby Perkins of Breaux Bridge. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brasseaux.

The bride wore a one-piece, corset back, French Taffeta gown that featured a ruched stand away bodice adorned with lace, Swarovski crystals, pearls, bugle beads, seed beads, and sequins accented with an empire ribbon. The fitted silhouette extended into a flared skirt with voluminous godet panels creating the dramatic effect the skirt.

The Maid of Honor was Kylie Neuville, friend. Bridesmaids were Gena Tauzin, friend of the bride; Ashley Denlinger, friend of the bride; Celesten Burmaster, friend of the bride; Megan Guidry, sister of the bride; and Brittany Mahfouz, friend of the bride. They wore a celedon green, strapless fitted mermaid floor length gown. Flower girl was Kelbi LaShare. Serving as ring bearer was Jacques Hulin.

Chosen was Best Man was Garrett Perkins, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Quinton McCarthy, friend of the groom; Steph LeBlanc, friend of the groom; Myles Wyble, friend of the groom; Tyson Thibodeaux, cousin of the groom; and Nick Miller, friend of the groom.

Ushers included Brice Broussard, friend; Phillip Taylor, friend; Brad Mergist, brother of the bride; and Vernon Benson, brother of bride.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Leah Mergist. Toni Milliman, and William Seaux. Lauren Buford, friend, and Kisha Gardam gave the readings.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at The Manor in Cade.
