Legendary St. Landry Parish Sheriff Daley J. “Cat” Doucet was one of the dignitaries who greeted French President Charles deGaulle when he visited Louisiana at the end of April 1960, and had some complimentary things to say about him. Afterwards, for example, Doucet told the press, “His French isn’t too bad.”
The weather lately has been beautiful but I keep having a deep-down niggling feeling that when it changes it will be a whopper! I’m just being too pessimistic, I suppose. Hearing about and seeing the pictures from the Houston area certainly makes one nervous.
There is no limit to what God can do. I encourage you to open your eyes to what God is doing and what He can do, as we seek Him. As we bear the consequences in our culture of the sins we commit, as our families and communities suffer under the burden of wickedness, it could be that God would use all of this to call us back to Himself.
April is the month that reminds me that God must have been in a good mood when he created Acadiana. It’s one of the prettiest places you’ll find anywhere in early spring. It is also the place where you will find Louisiana irises blooming this month – the only plant that I know of that blooms naturally in every color of the rainbow.
