An Article of Faith
There is no limit to what God can do. I encourage you to open your eyes to what God is doing and what He can do, as we seek Him. As we bear the consequences in our culture of the sins we commit, as our families and communities suffer under the burden of wickedness, it could be that God would use all of this to call us back to Himself. The crisis situations we find ourselves in could actually be our invitation to tear down the “idols” we’ve built, and turn instead to Christ, our rightful King. I believe that God desires to send this kind of spiritual renewal here, to us, to America. If only we humble ourselves, and pray and seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways.
“The gospel’s simplicity is its ability to,” writes Dave Keesling, “in a single moment, change literally everything.”
A.W. Tozer echoed this belief in the reviving power of the Holy Spirit: “There is no limit to what God could do in our world if we would dare to surrender before Him with a commitment that says, ‘Oh God, I hereby give myself to You. I give my family. I give my business. I give all I possess. Take all of it, Lord – and take me! I give myself in such measure that if it is necessary that I lose everything for Your sake, let me lose it. I will not ask what the price is. I will ask only that I may be all that I ought to be as a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ.’
“If even 300 of God’s people became that serious, our world would never hear the last of it! They would influence the news. Their message would go everywhere like birds on the wing. They would set off a great revival of New Testament faith and witness. God wants to deliver us from the easygoing, smooth and silky, fat and comfortable Christianity so fashionable today.”
Yes, there is no limit to what God can do through revival. But God must be sought. He is calling people who see the spiritual emergency and who will turn, pray, and unite until He comes in revival and spiritual awakening. Thousands of others have made this OneCry the cry of their hearts and the organizing principle for their lives. Only one question remains: will you?
Spend a season of prayer around the following themes. Give Thanks for what God has taught you about revival; for His ability and proven history of faithfully sending revival when His people return to Him; for giving us His Word and prayer as a means of communing with Him about such critical issues; and because He hears and answers our prayers and holds true to the promises of His Word. “Oh, that You would burst from the heavens and come down! How the mountains would quake in Your presence! As fire causes wood to burn and water to boil, Your coming would make the nations tremble. Then Your enemies would learn the reason for Your fame! When You came down long ago, You did awesome deeds beyond our highest expectations. And oh, how the mountains quaked! For since the world began, no ear has heard, and no eye has seen a God like You, who works for those who wait for Him!” (Isaiah 64:1-4 NLT.)
“If My people,” declares the LORD, “who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV.)
