Butte La Rose et Les Entourage

Bonjour!
Boss Fred, Greg, Pete and Gene remind us about Food for Seniors, and ask that we do not forget to remind others that the Wednesday, Nov. 20, pick up at Parc Hardy is for both November and December.
Father Fabre announced the new addition to St. Rita’s Church choir at the 10 a.m. Mass last Sunday. He is 10-year-old William from Catahoula, son of Russ and Crystal Louviere. After Mass, Will stepped up where we play during Mass and said he wanted to join the choir. Of course without hesitation we said you sure can. Very impressive. Will’s goal is to form a children’s choir. It is wonderful that this young child wants to serve God with his music ministry. Will takes guitar lessons from Sam Broussard.
Blessings for Lacey and Daniel Menard! And best wishes of luck, love and happiness on their marriage witnessed by God, family and friends Saturday, Oct. 12.
I had the pleasure of singing for their wedding at the River Oaks Pavilion on Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette. I had joined them for rehearsal, which was directed by Lacey, the previous Wednesday. And the nine or so songs I sang there were also selected by Lacey. I arrived early Saturday afternoon to set up my music. When I stepped into the pavilion, to my surprise the large room had been beautifully decorated and transformed into an all-white wedding chapel. Qui c’est vrai!
White cloth was gracefully draped from the beams of the ceiling and lowered to surrounded the back stage turning it into altar. There were about 10 rows of white chairs ten deep on each side of the isle. At the front entrance there was a 10-foot white drape on each side at the back of both rows. I wish I could appropriately describe it for the creative beauty it deserves.
Mrs. Daniel Menard’s gown was ivory in color. Absolutely beautiful she was. So were her bridesmaids. Mr. Menard and the men in his wedding dressed in black suits. They were all so handsome.
Beaucoup family and friends were there to share in this blessed event. God knows their hearts are all in the right place.
SMILE is having a function Nov. 17 at the Robicheaux Center on Dulles in Lafayette to began at 9 a.m. The program will open with all of us reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “God Bless America.”
Remember last year when our pontoon bridge was decorated with beautiful colorful Christmas lights? Wouldn’t it be fun to have an hour of singing Christmas Carols this year at the fire station like we did a few years back?
Dennis and Cecile shared their successful corn crop with me again this year. She plucked out a dozen or so cabbage plants which I brought home and planted right away. Mosquitoes have let up a little. I was able to cut a big portion of the yard today. I used the self-propelled and riding mower. I still am not able to use the weed eater like I want to that my children gave me for Mothers Day this year.
The boat landing on the Henderson levee is trucking right along. I’m sure when the old families drive by, they are seeing the difference the times have made and remembering when and why they had to abandon their homes along that levee and move away for progress. I know some of the families still miss living in their camps along there.
Nov. 8-10 is the St. Martin Catfish Festival at Catfish Haven. There will be a catfish cook-off, music and fun. Take the Cypress Island Road from Highway 31 in St. Martinville. See y’all there!
Merci to all of who read my column!
