Killer of police chief's mother-in-law pleads to manslaughter

Darrin Duhon, 32, on Friday pleaded to a reduced charge of manslaughter in the death of former Breaux Bridge Chief of Police Charlie Thibodeaux’s 91-year-old mother-in-law, Mildred Hebert. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 7.

Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Artegus Smith, 25, who may be residing in the 1300 block of Zin Zin Road, Breaux Bridge, LA., or the 1100 block of Orphe Guidry Road, Arnaudville, LA.
He is wanted for failure to appear in court on the following charges:

SUSPECT INFORMATION SOUGHT IN CONNECTION WITH LOCAL BAR BURGLARY

Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect as seen in the attached photos.
The suspect is wanted in connection with the burglary of Lil’s On The Teche in Breaux Bridge during the early morning hours of January 6, 2016.

Bond projects on school board agenda

A long list of projects being funded by proceeds from the 2009 and 2013 bond issues occupies a large portion of the three-page agenda for today’s (Wednesday) monthly meeting of the St. Martin School Board.
The meeting is set for 5 p.m. at the Administrative Office on Corporate Boulevard.

No Mardi Gras Parade for St. Martinville

The story of the 2016 Newcomer’s Mardi Gras parade began with a drone video of the 2015 parade crowd commissioned by the Sheriff’s Office. It ended by way of the unforeseen result of a successful challenge by the Newcomers in a Federal Court in Lafayette on Monday.
