Supercell!

Severe supercells – described in weatherman terms as a “mesocyclone,” a towering, rotating thunderstorm – ripped across southern Louisiana Friday afternoon and again Monday morning, leaving damage from freaky straightline winds and hail as large as baseballs.

TREES DOWN EVERYWHERE

Monday morning’s supercell shattered an oak tree and sent limbs crashing down on tombs in the Methodist Cemetery on Resweber Street in St. Martinville.

TWO ST. MARTINVILLE MEN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE DRUG AND FIREARM CHARGES

Narcotics agents with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Friday morning executed two search warrants at two different houses simultaneously on Governor Mouton Street in St. Martinville.
Deputies recovered approximately $20,000 in cash, crack cocaine, marijuana, unspecified pills and synthetic cannabinoids.

Pair jailed in BB drive-by shooting

On Monday, April 13, the Breaux Bridge Police Department arrested Queenlyn Marie Comeaux, 21, of Lafayette, and Quinntin Michael Senegal, 28, of St. Martinville, on suspicion of attempted second degree murder stemming from an alleged drive-by shooting in the 700 block of Hanks Street here on the evening of Sunday, April 12.
