The defense will resume presenting its case Thursday after federal prosecutors on Wednesday rested their 21-count corruption case against former mayor Ray Nagin.
A trio of prosecutors called more than a dozen witnesses over a four-day period who supported testified that the former mayor of New Orleans accepted bribes, filed fraudulent tax returns and used his political influence to win lucrative contracts for his family's granite business.
The defense called the witnesses testimony self-serving and began calling its own witnesses late Wednesday.
