Hunter safety course schedule announced
The St. Martin Sheriff’s Office will be hosting three hunter education courses consisting of two days of training each.
All hunters born on or after Sept. 1, 1969, must attend this training in order to hunt in the State of Louisiana.
The courses will be held at the SMSO Training Academy gym, 1815 Terrace Hwy., St. Martinville.
Here is the schedule:
•Saturday, Aug. 29, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 30, 8 a.m.-11 a.m.
•Saturday, Sept. 12, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 13, 8 a.m.-11 a.m.
•Saturday, Oct. 3, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 4, 8 a.m.-11 a.m.
The sheriff’s office will provide lunch on Saturdays.
Each course is limited to 50 students.
Students must be 10 years of age or older by the last day of the class to become certified. Students under 10 are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian but they cannot receive certification.
Those 13 and under must attend the class with a parent or guardian.
