Wiltz powers ’Dogs past St. Martinville

Bulldog Jeremy Wiltz burned the nets for 28 points in leading Cecilia to a 60-56 District 5-4A victory over St. Martinville here last Friday.

After a sluggish start, Wiltz scored 26 of his 28 points over the last three quarters. Trailing the Tigers 43-38 going into the final stanza, Cecilia outscored The ’Ville 22-13 down the stretch to pull out the satisfying victory.

James Auguillard contributed 15 points to the Bulldog win while Bradley Savoy and Tylan Neveu led the Tigers with 18 and 10 points, respectively.

In their first league meeting St. Martinville had notched a narrow 52-20 win over the Bulldogs.

Earlier last week Cecilia raced to a 70-52 non-district win over Crowley, but on Saturday fell hard to St. Thomas More, 76-53, leaving the ’Dogs with a10-14, 2-5 record.

In St. Martinville’s other action last week the Tigers handed Breaux Bridge a 64-51 defeat. The ’Ville stands at 11-13, 4-2 for the season.

Breaux Bridge suffered a second loss last week, a 51-46 defeat at the hands of Teurlings Catholic, leaving the Tigers at 9-14, 1-6.
