District play rocky for parish teams

It was a rough week for St. Martin Parish baseball teams in District 5-4A action as Breaux Bridge, Cecilia and St. Martinville went a combined 1-6 in league outings.

Breaux Bridge notched the only victory of the week, topping parish rival St. Martinville 6-1 on Thursday, avenging an earlier 4-3 loss to The ’Ville.

Along with the loss to Breaux Bridge, St. Martinville also dropped games to league leading St. Thomas More (8-0) and Teurlings Catholic (17-3).

Cecilia also faced the district’s top two teams, falling to STM 12-0 and Teurlings by 6-1.

The Breaux Bridge-Northside game scheduled for April 8 was postponed.

Last week’s action left Breaux Bridge with a 14-8, 4-3 record while St. Martinville slipped to 7-16, 3-5, and Cecilia dropped to 6-15, 2-5.
