BB Lady Tigers suffer first loss

Breaux Bridge’s Lady Tigers hit a bit of a bump in their road to the District 5-4A basketball championship last Friday, absorbing a 50-41 loss to the league-leading Lady Cougars of St. Thomas More.

The two teams had entered the contest with perfect 5-0 district records, but STM’s Courtney Chain poured in 23 points to spark the victory.

Breaux Bridge had a bit of trouble with fouls, drawing 22 whistles, and St. Thomas More players picked up 13 points from the free throw line.

Jasmine Leblanc and Caitlin Davis accounted for 22 and 12 points, respectively, for the Lady Tigers.

Breaux Bridge had knocked off Westgate 46-42 earlier last week and stands at 16-6, 5-1 for the season.

In other local action, St. Martinville (2-16, 1-5) dropped games to St. Thomas More and Teurlings Catholic, while Cecilia (3-13, 0-6) fell to Northside
