Lance Dominic Theriot

Covington – Lance Dominic Theriot, 56, of Covington, Louisiana died on Sunday, February 7, 2016. Born on November 28, 1960, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, he is survived in death by his beloved children, Jena and Jantz Theriot and his precious granddaughter, Reese Hartenstein, who called him “Pop T.”
He is also survived by his mother, June Cormier Theriot of Breaux Bridge; his brothers, Mitch Theriot and his wife Tammy of Houston, Texas, Troy Theriot of Breaux Bridge and Joey Theriot and his wife Anne of Sarasota, Flordia; nephews and nieces, Casey Theriot and wife Ashley and their daughters, Tallie and Taylor, Sophie Theriot, Phillip and wife Kashia Theriot and daughter Emmaline, Drake and Brody Theriot; the mother of his children, Kelli Calais April and her husband Bobby April of Kenner, La.; his companion, Margo Grosz of Covington; and her children, Kenny, Merris and Morgan; and his furry friend “Gypsy.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilton Theriot; his grandparents, Percy and Sophie Cormier, and Norris and Martha Theriot.
Lance, “Poncho” (the name given to him by Mr. Ralph), graduated Breaux Bridge High School in 1978 and began working in the Oil and Gas industry in Lafayette, Louisiana, eventually moving his family to Kenner, Louisiana, where he continued his career for 35-plus years. He was dedicated, dependable and expert in his field of work. He was an advocate sports fan and especially loved when his son played football at Rummel High School and ULL. Lance had a passion for cooking and was the go-to-guy for tailgates, business gatherings, friends and especially family. He justifiable referred to himself as “The Que Master” after winning multiple cook-off competitions such as Fin, Feathers & Fur Food Festivals and more.
He also took great pleasures in gardening, a trait inherited from his mother.
For the past six years, he was an active member of AA where he unselfishly shared his experiences and reached out to provide support to others.
Lance found solace in his Catholic faith, attending daily Mass and Perpetual Adoration throughout the greater New Orleans area. Lance embodied his Louisiana heritage in every sense. His mischievous smile will be remembered and missed by all.
Honoring Lance as pallbearers were his brothers, Mitch, Troy and Joey Theriot, his nephews, Casey and Philip Theriot, and friends Carroll Angelle, Ernie Bergeron and Peter Rozands.
Interment was on Monday, February 15, 2016, at the All Saints Mausoleum in New Orleans. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks gifts be directed to Lance’s favorite philanthropy, The Wounded Warrier Project.
