Brook Anthony Dupuis

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Brook Anthony Dupuis, 28, who passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at his residence.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Rev. David Broussard officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Heather Dupuis and Judy Olivier. Gift Bearers were his brother, Brock Dupuis, his godchild, Gage Dupuis, and his nephew, Noah Dupuis.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
As a young child, Brook was known as “Smiley.” He was always happy with a big smile from ear to ear. Loved by all who met him, Brook enjoyed 4-H livestock shows, hanging with friends, and camping. Diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 14, he strived to fight the battle ahead of him with courage and purpose. He worked diligently to complete high school while receiving treatments. Brook graduated with his class and continued his education graduating from South Louisiana Community College.
Brook courageously fought a 14-year battle with cancer. During his journey he was ever so brave and graceful with every challenge. He never complained and constantly focused on how his fight would benefit other children facing a similar journey. He was dedicated to St. Jude’s Research Hospital and very appreciative of the care and support provided to him and his family. Brook participated in multiple fundraisers for other children to be able receive treatment at St. Jude. After being in remission for 10 years, he volunteered to participate in a long term study including diagnostic testing in order for others to benefit from the research gained in evaluating the effects of chemotherapy and radiation on children.
Brook’s journey took him far and near; from thrilling roller coaster rides, to his first hunting trip, to a meet and greet with President George W. Bush at the White House. But no place was as special as in the hearts of all of the people he met along the way. Aside from having a very large family who provided support for his journey, he had a 4-H Livestock family, a St. Jude family, and a Team Brook family. He deeply cared for all who provided love and support to him.
Brook is survived by his parents, Eddie and Arlene Robin Dupuis of Breaux Bridge; his maternal grandmother, Ruby Robin of Henderson; his brother, Brock (Kristy) Dupuis of Breaux Bridge; his godchild, Gage Dupuis; and nephew, Noah Dupuis; and numerous loving aunts and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harold Robin; and his paternal grandparents, Joycelyn and Simon Dupuis.
Pallbearers were Brock Dupuis, Nick LeBlanc, Cody and Michelle Melancon, Nellie Dupuis, and David Bourque Jr.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
