Kelsey Waldon: The Gold Mine
Kelsey Waldon is the real deal. Her new album, The Gold Mine, represents great music from a great artist. She has that true country twang and that pure country sound. I loved her from the first listen to her record.
She came to Nashville from the small town of Monkey’s Eyebrow, Ky. Once she starts singing, you realize that you are listening to an artist with some stories to tell. Her debut album gives you a glimpse of songs about cheating and trouble. But they are told in such a way that we all can relate.
I loved all of the tunes on her album. Check out “One Time Again,” where she talks about being done wrong. I thought “Getting There” really told a special story. This artist is all about telling the story and doing so with a traditional country style. That is one of the coolest things about Kelsey.
“I moved from a small town in Kentucky to this place where everyone is just like me,” she says. “They all moved from their little place, too, and we live in this beautiful utopia. We’re all country music freaks, nerds, really. But sometimes in Nashville it can be so easy to let other things get in the way. You have to try really hard to get spoiled.”
Kelsey has her focus on great music. She gives us the best of the best on her new album. For this artist, the sky is the limit! Very impressed!
