Butte La Rose et Les Entourage
Bonjour!
If you’re gonna buy a cute little hat special for dress-up be sure to remove the price tag from the back. And if you’re gonna wear a skirt, check the size tag make sure it’s on inside. Or you could go gallivanting around town or shopping and might be the only person to not notice your skirt is inside out. Vielle Femme does that and makes me honte.
Elsie Castille with Counsel on Aging remind us Sheriff and Mrs. Ronny Theriot are treating us seniors to an early Christmas dinner at the St. Francis Hall in Breaux Bridge Tuesday, Dec. 10. The day always starts off with smiling volunteers as we walk in. There’s bingo and door prizes. Food is always yummy. Y’all come and know life is not boring just because we’ve joined the ranks of senior-hood. Dat gummit, they treat us right in St Martin Parish!
Friends Merle and Cindy Champagne invited me to their home for persimmons and oranges. They are a very sweet couple. Cindy works at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville but when she has errands to run Merle sits in for her. Freeze persimmons by placing in small unzipped plastic lunch bags individually among the frozen foods. No need to bunch up just put one here and there every where you find an empty space. After they’re frozen put all in a plastic grocery shopping bag back in the freezer. When you want one to eat or cook, place over night in the refrigerator in a saucer. The juice turns to syrup. C’est bon.
Their tree produced so many I took all I was offered and shared with neighbors and friends. I did not want to seem like a gourmand but they had that fruit in abundance. It will be a few years before my tree begins producing. Very popular are persimmon cake and cookies so during this season, know they are freezable and do not freezer burn.
Merle also broke oranges from their trees. He said the trees produced so many oranges this year the oranges grew small. The peeling is thin but the orange is full, sweet and juicy. He loaned Vielle Femme his orange juicer and she squeezed out about four gallons of juice. She put the pure orange juice in pint freezer bags measuring two cups per bag and put in her freezer.
Persimmon and orange trees grow every where at this time of year and it all ripens at the same time. Know what to do with those when they’re in season. If you ask I think people are willing to give to those who want to pick. So healthy and no additive. Pure!
Dr. Susan Azar checked my eyes last week and said she will see me in a year. Best thing I ever did for myself was when I went to her earlier this year for my crossing eyes. The correction she made has truthfully given me back my sight from when I was 40 doing my log books.
Back by demand: A 14-ounce can of sardines with the juice squeezed out, one egg, chopped onion, bread crumbs, Tony Cachere, oil. In bowl combine all, form into patties, and deep fry three to five minutes. Delicious.
Happy Thanksgiving!
