Atchafalaya Basin access advocates hold annual meeting next month
The Louisiana Crawfish Producers Association West will hold its annual meeting here Tuesday, March 11. The public is welcome to attend.
Formed originally by the commercial fishermen who harvest wild crawfish in the Atchafalaya Basin, LCPAW’s numbers have grown with the addition of sport fishermen and hunters, environmentalists, kayakers, birders and others concerned with access to the navigable waterways of the Basin.
LCPAW has fronted successful court battles to ensure areas navigable by boat remain open to the public. Federal law, particularly, is protective of navigable waters used for commerce, such as commercial fishing.
The organization meets in the Catahoula Elementary School gym, beginning at 7 p.m.
Annual membership dues are $10 per person.
