Deputy facing grand jury in shooting of husband

Louisiana State Police detectives have turned their investigation into the Dec. 29, 2013, shooting death of a 34-year-old man by his deputy sheriff wife to the district attorney’s office.
The next step, according to Assistant DA Chester Cedars, is to bring the matter before a St. Martin Parish grand jury, which will convene June 23.
Crystal Alexander, 33, a deputy with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Department, has been on administrative leave since the shooting death of Kendall Alexander in the couple’s Breaux Bridge home.
“I received the Louisiana State Police report Friday, met with the investigators, and reviewed the file over the weekend,” Cedars told Teche News.
Teche News has independently determined there is a record of domestic violence between the pair. According to records on file with the St. Martin Parish Clerk of Court, then Crystal Clues obtained three restraining orders against Alexander starting in 2005.
In 2007, Alexander was charged with violation of a protective order, stalking and simple assault after he allegedly grabbed Clues by the hair and dragged her from a friend’s house.
He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of disturbing the peace and paid a fine of $50, plus court costs.
The couple was married in April 2008.
