Parks – Residents of Promiseland, a neighborhood in Parks, along with other local folks and guests from as far away as Cameroon in Africa, gathered on Oct. 11 and 12 to remember their roots, mourn, tell their stories, celebrate and look toward the future at a dedication ceremony and symposium.
St. Martin Parish Councilwoman Lisa Nelson welcomes the community to "A Day in the Park," at the Cade Community Center, noon to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 27.
There will be food, live music and other entertainment.
The Cade Community Center is located at 1699 Smede Highway, Cade.
My words must have been heard! It is wonderfully cool today with sunny skies, no rain. Just beautiful. Yesterday the dog and I walked the spillway beach until I found a fallen willow in the shade. It was just a perfect spot to sit and read while the dog played in the water.
Some unusual pairings with Man’s Best Friend are on tap for next weekend, Nov. 9 and 10. On Saturday it’s dogs in boats, and on Sunday, dogs and wine!
