When the first Acadian exiles began to come to Louisiana, most of them settled along the Mississippi River near what is today the town of St. Gabriel in Iberville Parish.
Jessica Ann Guidry, 2014 Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival queen, received a special plaque from Mayor Jack Dale Delhomme May 13 on behalf of the city in recognition of her role in promoting Breaux Bridge and the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival.
In departing from God, we follow a progression from a shift of the heart, to a lack of obedience, to turning to substitutes for God. Usually, by the time God gets our attention, we have been going that way for a long time. Just as a divorce begins when a couple gradually grows apart, we don’t suddenly jump away from God.
The price of crawfish for the fishermen is now down to $1 a pound which is a sure indication more crawfish are being caught and as always, the buyers are trying to regulate the flow to the markets.
Artist Michelle Fontenot has been selected as the featured artist for this year’s Le Feu et l’Eau-Fire and Water Rural Arts Celebration, Dec. 6.
Fontenot is a full time artist working mainly in glass, either as mosaics or leaded panels.
