In the 1920s Christian missionaries in North China were grieved over the spiritual condition of the churches. Members showed little or no spiritual sensitivity or concern. The missionaries began to wonder if many people had accepted Christianity mentally but had never really been born again.

With little in the way of human planning, a nationwide revival broke out in America among God’s people in union prayer meetings beginning in 1857. In the awakening that followed, nearly one million people surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ in a single year.
When the spirits moved railroad builder Arthur Edward Stilwell, they also moved a lot of freight. He extended the Kansas City Southern Line into Louisiana after he heard voices in his head.

Although it still gets pretty warm by mid to late afternoons, I think I can reasonably say the weather is getting a little bit cooler. I became enthused by a particularly cool evening and planted some fall vegetables which are not exactly thriving in the heat, but with lots of pampering and frequent watering, they are not dying.
