The spirit of Christmas is in the air everywhere. Very good to see are the lights at the pontoon bridge. That means we got our bridge back.

One of the things that makes the celebration of Christmas special is the anticipation of the day itself. I am tempted to say that the only thing that might rival it is the anticipation of the arrival of a new baby – but, then, isn’t that what the holy day celebrates?
Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church is holding a service of "thanksgiving and investiture" with 16th Judicial District Judge Lori A. Landry and her staff at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14.
