There were no plans to officially celebrate Mardi Gras in St. Martinville in 1915, but then a handful of folk decided to throw a big party for the town anyway. It turned out to be a simple celebration, but a lot of fun for an unexpectedly big crowd.
Sorry about this folks, but I was wrong! The purple martins have not yet returned to my birdhouses! The birds I saw are those pesky house wrens which have been poking in the Martin house nesting holes every day now. I go out and shout at them but they come back. I hope they will leave when the martins do arrive.

A few minutes after the great ever-so-famous world-wide Super Bowl football game was over, which I did not watch because I was wrapped up in a couple of very interesting shows on LPB, the unthinkable happened and electricity went out all around this area.
