You Know Who is coming to town Saturday, Dec. 14

The Downtown Merchants Association is sponsoring a series of events Saturday, Dec. 14, to celebrate “A Breaux Bridge Cajun Christmas.”

It starts at 10 a.m. in Parc des Ponts de Pont Breaux, the park on the bayou next to St. Bernard School. There will be a live Nativity scene, crafts, face painting, candy stations, and Mrs. Claus will read “A Cajun Christmas” to children on the old bridge stage.

At 11 a.m. in the Glass Room at Buck & Johnny’s, karate kick boxing experts will put on a demonstration with music by the Children’s Band.

Not one but several Santas will parachute into Breaux Bridge at 1 p.m., landing at the Breaux Bridge Junior High or thereabouts. Immediately following will be the Blessing of the Santas.

At 1:30 p.m. the real Santa (Papa Noël) will arrive on Main Street downtown where he will pose for photos with children of all ages.

Mass will be said at St. Bernard Church at 4 p.m.

At 5 p.m. will be the lighting of the Christmas tree at Farmers Merchants Bank, followed by Christmas carols and a street dance (Fais-do-do) at the intersection of Bridge and Main.
