Jayvee Music Reviews with Jeff Vallet

Becky Schlegel Opry Lullaby

Becky Schlegel has that special kind of voice. It is so warm, yet interpretive. It is memorable, yet not overbearing. Her passion and personality make her songs one of a kind.

I was introduced to her sound by my parents who watched The Midwest Country Show on cable. They told me about one particular entertainer that they fell in love with. I watched her and then I was hooked! She is everything you see and more.

Her sound can be described as folk, country, with a little bluegrass mixed in.

“I didn’t write my first song until my 27th birthday,” she says. “That day was like a miracle. That I could compose meant that I could meant that I could dictate the direction of music – and that’s made a huge difference in my voice.”

Becky soon found that if she backed off a little on the vocal, she could find a sweeter sound, and she believes that this insight changed her as an artist.

“ I could feel the audience’s reaction shift from just toe-tapping, to leaning in a bit and really listening to the songs.”

Now, Becky is not only a world-class singer-songwriter, she is a wife and mother as well.

While soft spoken and tenderhearted, she has a lighter side that is quirky, fun and vibrant.

Her latest release, Opry Lullaby, was recorded in Nashville. She wrote or co-wrote every song on the album. I loved the album!

“Thanks to the Country Girl” is a warm country charmer. “Influence Of Merle” is a tribute of sort. She gives a nod to the stage that she loves so much, in “Midwest Country Show.”

I can’t wait till this lady gets national attention. She has the whole package. GO GET THIS ONE!
