Paul McCartney continues to make great music. With his first album of new material in six years, McCartney puts his special touch on it. “New” is an appropriate title for the new record. It still has that McCartney magic all over it. But, I believe that it is a fresh sound, showing that Sir Paul continues to make timeless music as he has since his days with The Beatles.
From the first time I listened to his new offering, I felt like I was visiting with my friend of many years. It also impressed on me that Mr. McCartney is still one of the greatest songwriters of all time. All of us can appreciate what The Beatles tunes have meant to us through the years.
There are 12 songs on the new record. “Queenie Eye” was an especially unique song. And “Early Days” was a song of reflection. It highlighted the fact that our early days cannot be taken from us. It is a look back at roads once traveled.
The tune “Looking At Her” is a song about a special girl that everybody notices. She is the one that draws the attention and the conversation. And the song “Save Us” is an appeal to his special one to provide a safe place for him.
A couple of the songs even have that Beatlesque feel too. I think that the record is probably the best work McCartney has offered in some time.
Paul McCartney has been and continues to be a pacemaker as a hit-maker. His latest is special and fresh!
