Bonjour!
About last week when I mentioned visiting my son, Steve: our visit went a little deeper and better. His sister Blanche had cooked her delicious Cajun rice dressing to bring to him so he’d have a taste of our home cooking. She cooked extra and when his daughter (my granddaughter), Maria, goes to visit him living close by she’ll have some for him. He ate a quart full.
After our visit with Steve Saturday afternoon we spent that night at Maria’s home. Her husband Ronny is a devout Catholic as is his family living in Illinois. And I noticed at every chance of a few idle moments of his time, he’d slip away and sit in his narrow rocker in the corner of the dining room away from everyone. And then he’ll pick up his worn from being so often black Bible bringing up to his eyes and consuming himself reading and giving his time and thought to God.
He wraps his soul around the verses he’s reading. He is not distracted unless we speak to him. Then he’ll slowly close his Bible and engage in conversation with us until he has another moment then he’ll open and read in it some more.
I respect him for who he is and for his devotion and respectful loyal love for God. We should all make some sacrifices for God at any given time of our daily living. In the busies, worries and hurries of our times, seems like we could all take a moment to say merci au Dieu for His endless and many blessing He bestows upon us and our family.
So Steven is in extremely good hands with Maria and her family. And Ronny likes his beer and yes Blanche, Tina, Maria and Ronny drank a few the night we spent there.
Sunday morning as we prepared for our trip home, I asked Ronny if he would please lead us into a prayer treatment for Steve although he was not there with us. He agreed so I gave him the instructions. All of us, Ronny, myself, Blanche, Maria, my great grandson Sean Paul, Tamra and Tina gathered around the dining room table in a circle all holding hands. We all made our sign of the cross and prayed Our Father three times asking God to but deliver Steven Segura from pain and affliction and heal him from the illness that caused his brain injury. Then we repeated the series a second time, again making our sign of the cross and prayed the Our Father another three times. And then we repeated a third series.
As we prayed I was looking up into nowhere. Then a sudden feeling of peace came over me and at the same time I realized a mirage of light-bluish and beige colors floating just above me. It was like a very thin layer of sand or maybe dust that rose from the desert floor in very slow motion. And like a breath it was gone, vanished!
I kept my cool and kept on praying. A few moments later as we were still into prayer the dining room light flickered extremely lightly as if to get our attention but not disturb. Blanche and Tina’s eyes were closed yet both saw the blink.
God works in mysterious ways. He has answered our prayers from day one and of this day He answers again. God is our only healer. The kitchen light a few feet away did not blink.
Sad to say the Library in Henderson is closed. The one in Breaux Bridge is newly renovated. It will be a wonderful for the locals.
Bonne journée.
