Butte La Rose et Les Entourage
Bonjour!
Well I am not politicking but I gotta say “Félicitation” to our former Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards. More power to the man now 87 years of age having paid his debt to society with a time-served conviction under his belt still wanting to continue his political career. In his quest not to go down without a fight is back and at it. His political legacy! Why? Because he loves Louisiana and her people! More power to him.
There are some people who never get old. Their body might accumulate a little wear and tear here and there, but their guts, wisdom and will power never gathers dust and is everlasting. Edwards not only paid his depth to society, he did it like a man.
You know all is well when you awaken in the morning and open your door to the sounds of millions of birds singing and the delicious smell of fresh air and know you’re gonna have a good day! And now that the worst of the winter is over – and the icy times killed 90 percent of my plants – I will not dwell on it, just start over. I’ll go to Mary Wager’s Country Gardens, John’s Garden Center, Beau Chene’s High School, etc.
Last winter someone gave me a handful of cabbage plants. Planted in my garden, they were growing healthy,. A rabbit got in the garden and ate the outer leaves leaving six whole. I managed to save those, which kept growing but never formed a head. The leaves just got bigger, healthier. I pulled em up this week, washed leaves real clean, chopped ’em up this morning, cut up and smothered three big onions, added the cabbage and cut up a small piece of smoked sausage: c’est tes bon.
Got your attention? Chopped up another three onions, smothered well, added a two-pound pack of Dennis Courville’s catfish, cooked very slow in white gravy, very good, half left for tomorrow. My son Dale is coming this weekend. Will cook a shrimp fricassee!
That time of year again for yard and garage sales. If you missed the Seven Mile Yard Sale between Arnaudville and Sunset, worry not because there are always garage and yard sales happening somewhere. I repeat myself and say many women sort out their clothing closets and household items this time of year to make room for newer things. Word to the wise, you can get best bargains at garage sales.
The Butte La Rose Welcome Center, exit 121 on I-10 will have their annual event May 5-7 begin 10 till 2 welcoming tourist. You are all invited so come join me and share our Cajun hospitality chatter and smiles with the Américains. I might even sing a few of my songs and some Hank! It would be good to see you. Free treats and coffee! Call (337) 228-1094 for more information.
To the disappointment of many of us a few years ago Walmart in Breaux Bridge did away with their sewing department. It left a big void in that store and plus nowhere else in town could we shop for sewing needs. While shopping there this week, employee Preston Murrey walked me to the new site. So ladies, it’s back with patterns and fabrics just as once was. I usually keep a list of sewing needs to shop for when I go to Lafayette. Thank you Walmart! Y’all say hey to dedicated Walmart employee Mike Trahan!
Y’all say hey to Tracy Simon. She was shopping with her beautiful daughters Valarie and Dana. She asked me about my son and said she is still sending prayers his way. Merci!
Happy Spring!
